Water, the only substance on Earth found in all three states naturally. About 71% of the Earth is covered in water, about 70% of the human body is water, and overall, water is a key ingredient to life. This semester I took a kayaking class as a P.E. credit. Yes, I already knew how to kayak, but I was able to get on the water and think about life and the wonderful creation God created.

Water flows in a cycle and it continues over and over. The water that was on the Earth millions of years ago when dinosaurs were around, is the same water that is on the Earth in 2017. Going down the river in a kayak, you learn to go with the flow more and more. It’s important to look at the river and follow where the water flows the easiest. The water flows around rocks, but still bumps into the rocks as it moves. When in a kayak and you hit a rock, it is important to lean into the rock. If you lean away from the rock, your boat will flip. Just like the water, you must take the rock and move against it, then move on. Bump into the hard times in life, but still move on.

I have come to rely on God’s creation of water to get me through rough times. At the beach, standing with the sand between my toes, listening to the water crash against the shore is one of the most calming feelings in the world. I have heard many stories of how strong this water is and how water can take the lives of so many, yet we all still rely on this water to live our lives. God put water on this Earth because he wants to show his people that spreading his love like water is how to show the world how much God loves us.

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'” – John 7:38

Peace Like A River comes to mind when I think about God. God gives us peace like a river as we flow towards oceans and understand how much he loves us, then at the end of the river we feel love like an ocean as the largest body of water on this earth is the ocean and God loves all of us so much, then we feel Joy like a fountain and fountains spread the water just as christians are to do with the word of God. Having God in our soul is a wonderful thing for us, but we need to take that Peace, Love, and Joy and spread it to all of those around us.

There are hard times in our lives. We should be like water and flow against the rocks that stand in our way, push-off of them and continue to flow. We can’t let rocks dam up our lives because even when we think our lives are over and we can’t possibly push any harder, with God, we can move around those rocks and flow as we were intended to do. Dams are created to hold back water, but even the strongest of dams cannot hold back water forever, they must let some water through or the water will flow over it, eventually breaking the dam and allowing all of the water to flow through.

There are rocks and dams in all of our lives, but God is there to help us get around them, push through everything, break down any walls, and spread his word.
